    I get these sudden heat flashes that make me feel like I'm going to throw up, pee my pants, and faint all at the same time, so I have to run to the bathroom and relieve myself. Then I'm better. It's really annoying. Thank you for giving it a context.

    Struggling to make eye contact, difficulty with the inevitable small talk, and having more short lived jobs on your resume than you care to admit are issues that I've experienced. I wouldn't hire myself based on the number of jobs I've had, but there are reasons why this is so. There is more to the story than what the resume reflects. It is highly unlikely that you would lead with your reality, but it makes sense why you would. They might be dealing with a gem, and they will never know if not given the opportunity to prove yourself. Finally, they probably have no support system set up, similar to an individualized education plan, that would allow you to keep the job and to thrive in the role you were hired for.

    Personally, I get the vibe that Sheldon has both Aspergers syndrome and narcissistic personality disorder. I don't know if it can happen, but he seems to have both disorders at the same time. Either that, or the show is aimed towards slutty dumb blond stereotypes who know nothing about the world and have no desire to learn. One thing that suggests that is how in the pilot episode it begins from Penny's perspective (a dumb blond stereotype).

    Unfortunately many people do think Sheldon is autistic. They want to make any character with those traits to be just that, you can’t change their minds. Sheldon Cooper is an abusive sociopath.

    The employment market is like competition of the survival of the fittest in the animal kingdom. Humans are also survival seeking species and many do what they can to insure financial stability. You have to be seen as commercially viable to be a gain to many employer's.

    I dunno if the 2 coincide but it wouldnt surprise me because of the sensory issues...I'm on the spectrum and I actually feel like im dying in the heat! I hates it so much! It's not even like im getting heatstroke or anything because ive had that before and know how it feels! But my body just seems to regulate temperature really badly...other people around me will be loving life while I feel so lethargic and drained and like I can't even function properly while sweating profusely even in like 15°C! I don't like the cold and I hate the hot, I prefer it when its just warm in the Spring and Autumn!

    Ok I get your preference for real vs fictional inspiration. That’s totally fine…for you. But there’s an aspect you’re failing to miss here. Your lack of control for inspiration figures. I’ll give you an example: my bud has a 3yr old. The kid could not care two licks about Martin Luther King Jr. but the Black Panther? When you see your kid embrace something positive you kinda have to keep that going. Then with time the kid will be open to hearing about MLK. I discovered I might be on the spectrum from Ray Romano’s character on Parenthood. That seed introduced me to other representations and role models. If someone sees Sheldon(an intentionally frustrating character) but notices something they can relate to, encourage it. Then go from there

  • @RobertoRiosbiz
    @RobertoRiosbiz Рік тому

    Unfortunately the workforce is not prepare to deal with people on the spectrum they have so many applicants and either you made a good impression right away or you didn’t it sounds terrible but that’s just the way big companies go about employing someone. My understanding is that people on the spectrum don’t have the same social skills as nuro typical people and that can get in the way of landing and keeping certain jobs positions. I think that before even going for the interview you should call and ask if they employ people on the autistic spectrum be honest and tell them that you’re not good at interviews but that you are interested in the job and that you have the skill set to be able to do the job. If people know that they hired somebody on the spectrum then they won’t expected them to have the same social abilities like reading body language and other social cues. Sometimes companies hire people on the spectrum without realizing they are on the spectrum and then the little quirks get in the way and they end up losing their jobs if you’re upfront about being on the spectrum they might be more understanding today there are so many shows about people on the spectrum that you would have to be living under a rock not know what it is. Good luck to everyone.

    • @Peter-mj6lz
      @Peter-mj6lz 2 місяці тому

      But a lot of people don’t know what autism really is so being upfront about autism may lead others to act on the preconceptions that have of autism.

    • @RobertoRiosbiz
      @RobertoRiosbiz 2 місяці тому

      @@Peter-mj6lz I think in today’s world with so many TV shows about autism you have to be living under a rock not to know what it is. The more I speak to people the more people tell me that they have family members or friends that they know that are on the spectrum. If someone on the spectrum is applying for a job and they a degree someone’s bound to give them interview and an opportunity. There are companies that are looking to hire people on the spectrum. Google is one of them, Hiding being on the spectrum is not the solution because you can’t hide who you are its difficult and exhausting it’s better to be upfront and after they offer the job let them know that you are on the spectrum. I know a phlebotomist, Spanish teacher,lawyer they are on the spectrum and are working. There are opportunities out there be brave and step out don’t put all your eggs in one basket reach out to as many companies as you can. Read Dale Carnegie book on How to make friends and influence people social skills are very important study them so that you can apply them or find a job where you don’t have to deal with too many people know who you are and find your comfort.

    Haha, Im not trying to downplay the difficulties that autistic people have with dating by saying this, but don't worry many neurotypical people still experience some of these problems, perhaps not all, but even with neurotypical brains that might be able to pick up on social cues more easily a lot of misinterpreation and anxiety can result around dating and meeting new girls and even having sex for the first time, with me sometimes sex can be a bit awkward the first time but than it gets better once I know the person a bit more and have had sex with them a few times already. Although, some people have said Im on the spectrum but I dont think I am now even if I did think I might be for a little bit but I am not diagnosed and am probably just a bit of a weirdo that comes off as being neurodivergent, so I am going to say that I am not!

    The larger the pool of qualified workers, the pickier an employer is going to be. And the 2nd most important question an employer is going to to ask about a potential employee (#1 being "can he/she do the job") is:** how will they get along with their co-workers?** Unless you possess a relatively rare skill that is in demand, it is your 'personality' and people skills which will be the deciding factor in employment. I once got turned down for a job for (no kidding) not being a football fan; that's actually what my interviewer told me. It sounded silly at the time, but when I reflected on how many others must have been applying for that position, the seemingly arbitrary criteria of being a football fan didn't seem so irrational anymore -- though I would have preferred a raffle.

    You know. I'm autistic myself. I am a 38-year-old man with Asperger syndrome and... I'm not a big fan of Big Bang Bang cos of Sheldon Cooper and Howard Wolowitz. Sheldon Cooper is a character you love to hate and he is truly one of the most irritating characters ever created and he is a mock to real life autistic people. He's selfish. Pompous. Self entitled. A total pain in the arse. No wonder Penny and Missy couldn't stand him. He would also be rude and obnoxious and like Howard, he's totally mad. The only episode of Big Bang Theory I ever liked was the one where Summer Glau is on the train. Sheldon Cooper is a fictional character who is a poor role-model and is an insult to real people with autism. Having said that, I have nothing against Jim Parsons. Jim Parson is an actor playing a character and he does what is written in the script and what the director tells him to do.

    I first started my working life at 35 after college and many years trying to get work be independent etc I had work trails via the jobcentre a d if I was asked to do something I hopped to it Job interviews now they were a challenge, I would practice and practice and it would all go to hell in the real thing Interviews can be a barrier to work for people with asd My first job was at 35 with an apprenticeship via a autism social enterprise a d it felt great having a job, bring off benefits It sadly came to an end but for 4 months I was applying for not only jobs I was trained for but any unskilled work I travelled all across London and even 20 miles outer London looking for work I ended up doing a temporary job over Christmas as it was the only work I got accepted for, I am not lazy, you give a job to do and I will do it to the best of my ability
